The Montezuma-Cortez High School Symphonic Winds will perform with local adult musicians in a week, and tickets are on sale.

The “Voices of Winds” concert on Feb. 2 will feature the high school musicians in collaboration with the Southwest Civic Winds, a group composed of professional musicians and educators from the Four Corners area.

The concert will open with the high school band playing a variety of works, followed by a collaborative performance, in which select students will be able to perform Samuel Hazo’s “Voices in the Sky” alongside the adult group on the stage.

After the combo performance, the Civic Winds will take the stage alone, playing the Navarro “Clarinet Concerto,” Gustav Holst’s “Mars,” and John Krance’s arrangement of Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana.”

This will be the second year that the high school band has played alongside the Civic Winds. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. and takes place in the Montezuma-Cortez High School auditorium.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, and free for children age 6 and under. They are available for purchase through any band student, through the band office at 565-3722, ext. 2158, or at the door.
