Local youth show well at Colorado State Fair

Besides winning hundreds of ribbons at the Montezuma County Fair, 4-H members from throughout the county also showed well at the Colorado State Fair.

Local exhibitors earned the right to enter the State Fair by being first in their division and age group at the county fair.

In Pueblo, Byron Porter was a big winner, showing the Grand Champion shorthorn bull. Some of his top results, among other ribbons:

Showmanship junior breed heifer: champion and first place.

Junior yearling heifers: first place and reserve champion, and reserve grand champion shorthorn heifer.

Spring yearling bulls: first place and champion yearling shorthorn bull and grand champion shorthorn bull.

Premier shorthorn exhibitor.

Also winning big at the State Fair were Montezuma County's fine arts dancers:

Intermediate dance ensemble - ballet, lyrical, modern, jazz: Hanna Molzahn, Sarai Cruzan, Taylor Comisky, champion and grand champion.

Junior Dance Solo - ballet, lyrical, modern, jazz: Labrea Matteson, champion and reserve grand champion.

Intermediate dance solo - ballet, lyrical, modern, jazz: Krystle Hager, reserve champion.

Intermediate dance solo - tap, clogging: Brenn Jeter, champion.

Intermediate dance ensemble - tap, clogging: Brenn Jeter, Krystle Hager, champion.

Intermediate dance ensemble - western swing, swing, square dance: Aaron McClain, Chantell Ford, Melissa McKinney, James Hackett, reserve champion.

Senior dance group - western swing, swing, square dance: Aaron McClain, Chantell Ford, Elisha Vaquera, James Hackett, Joshua Ramos, Kaeleen Boggs, Kate Treinen, Madison Mahaffey, Makenna Leggett, Melissa McKinney, Rielly Birch, Stetson Hamilton, reserve champion.
