FIREFIGHTERS were busy Thursday mopping up the Roatcap Fire, which burned about 400 acres.

The Roatcap Fire is reportedly 70 percent contained, according to Sheriff Dennis Spruell.

“It’s in the mop up stage,” he said.

No structures were lost, but evacuees were still only allowed back at their homes for emergencies and with an escort.

Spruell said another community meeting at the Dolores Community Center will likely see the lift of the evacuation order, but only residents will be allowed back in at that time.

That is only if the firefighters continue to contain the fire and if wind does not pick up.

The meeting is at 6 p.m.
