Bird Walks For the Birds
Durango Nature Studies is partnering with For the Birds to offer a bird walk along the Animas River trail every 3rd Wednesday of the month. This one will be on Wednesday, Dec. 19 from 9 to 10 a.m. One of our DNS naturalists will guide you in discovering the many birds that make their home along the river. No registration necessary. Just join us! Call 769-1800 (DNS) or 382-9396 (For the Birds) for more information.
Nature in the Classroom Opportunities
During December and January, Durango Nature Studies offers many ways to supplement classroom natural science curriculum. We can come into the classroom or conduct a program for your group. Some of the topics we have available and ready to go include:
Buzz on Bees
Fire a Forest Friend
All About Owls
Plants are Producers
Insect Investigations
Discovering Your Senses
Winter Wildlife
We can also design an individualized program around any topic that you would like to supplement.
We also have backpacks available for teachers or parents to check out for a week that allow you to supplement your own curriculum. They include activities, books, videos, and lesson plans around specific topics.
