In a season full of growing pains, the Dolores High School boys basketball latest loss provided another painful experience.
Matching up against a tough Ridgway team on Feb. 14, the Bears were unable to keep things close, losing 58-32 to fall to 4-13 on the year.
Key to the Bears loss was the defense's inability to contain Ridgway's Nathan Hagemeyer, who scored a game-high 26-points.
"Hagemeyer is really tough inside," said Bears' head coach Larry Schwartz. "He can also put the ball on the floor and penetrate. He's just physically bigger and taller than anyone that we have."
Also contributing to the Bears loss was an inability to knock down shots, as the Bears shot a dismal 18 percent from the field.
"It was our worst shooting game of the entire season, and we shot ourselves out of the game," said Schwartz.
Mikeal Ford led the Bears in scoring with 10 points. Ford also pulled down two rebounds, recorded two steals and limited his turnovers.
Also playing well for the Bears, Jakob Rudosky scored eight points.
Hoping to turn things around, the Bears will next match up against Ridgway on Feb. 21.
