More to love ... and Lily kitty deserves to be loved. This big girl was found starved nearly to death as a youngster, and had survived for four months without food. As a result of that experience, she has a different relationship with her food bowl than most cats — waiting for the next starvation to hit, she doesn’t seem to know when to stop eating. She’s really tied on the feedbag during numerous foster home situations and is now a 16 to 18 pound cuddly butterball. She needs to be in a home where she is the only cat, because control of her food intake is crucial. Lily is a 6-year-old gray shorthair with some buff markings mixed in. She has a wonderful personality; she is extremely gentle and very affectionate. She loves just hanging out on the couch and getting petted. She doesn’t know how to play, and needs someone to teach her how. Lily needs to get down to a healthy weight and to finally experience a forever home of her own. She’ll make a great, loving pet for an understanding human. She and the other lonely critters at the shelter really need a fresh start. The shelter is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on alternate Fridays. They will be closed this Friday, and on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 3. The shelter needs donations of non-clumping cat litter, plain bleach, and soaps such as dry dishwasher soap, liquid laundry soap, and liquid dish soap. They also could really use some new hard dog toys for the shelter dogs to chew on. All pet adoptions at the shelter now include having the new addition to your family fixed and microchipped.
