It isnt a secret to those of us locally, but a national magazine posted a website article praising the Boggy Draw area when it named Boggy Draw the The Ultimate Mountain Biking Base Camp For The Whole Family.
The article praised Boggy Draw for being family friendly.
Its easy to find an outdoor adventure in the Rockies. Whats not as simple is finding an adventure base camp for the whole family. For mountain biking, there may be no better place than Boggy Draw, wrote Outside contributor Emily Brendler Shoff.
The news of the publicity quickly spread online as people linked to the story in e-mails and Facebook.
Most people were proud, others noticed, with hesitation, that a crowded Boggy Draw, might not be as cool.
Dolores Town Manager Ryan Mahoney was thrilled.
I think it is great and it aligns us with how we want to identify ourselves, Mahoney said.
It also comes at a time when the Town of Dolores is working on getting a grant that will help the town align and plan future trails for the area.
Mahoney says he agrees the area is a great place to take his family.
His son, 4, learned how to mountain bike on Boggy Draw trails.
Its great for the town, he said.
The article also mentions local attractions, such at the Dolores River Brewery, the Dolores River Trail, the Dolores Food Market and the Cortez Recreation Center.
This camping and biking Mecca, located in southwestern Colorados San Juan National Forest, outside of Dolores, Colorado, is the perfect spot for a multi-age group to play. With singletrack rides for all abilities, lakes for wading in and catching fish, and fields for little ones to ride and run around in, Boggy Draw is a great three-season road-trip destination, Shoff, a Telluride resident, wrote.
