Monday, June 11

4:06 p.m.: A woman was arrested on a local felony warrant in the 14000 block of County Road 27.

6:13 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of identity theft in the 27000 block of County Road T.5. A couple said they received three iPhone Xs in the mail with their names and addresses on the packaging, but they had not ordered the phones or been billed for them. The case remains under investigation.

Tuesday, June 12

1:19 a.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

Thursday, June 14

11:33 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of criminal mischief in the 19000 block of County Road 34.6. A homeowner reported six window and door screens on her residence had been cut in a “U” shape sometime in the past three weeks. The case remains under investigation.

2:20 p.m.: A male inmate was served two warrants at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., for failure to comply in a DUI case and failure to appear on an assault charge.

2:28 p.m.: A male inmate was served with a warrant for failure to appear on a DUI charge at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

2:49 p.m.: A male inmate was served two warrants at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., for failure to appear on driving under restraint and bond violation charges.

9:37 p.m.: Deputies responded to a one-vehicle rollover accident near mile marker 2 on Colorado Highway 41. The vehicle’s three occupants were injured and one was transported by helicopter to Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango. The other two were transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital and later flown to Grand Junction. The driver reportedly told deputies he had fallen asleep at the wheel. Bureau of Indian Affairs agents took over the crash investigation.

Friday, June 15

9:49 a.m.: A woman was arrested in the 18000 block of County Road Z on an Alamosa warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.

5:21 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of trespassing in the 14000 block of County Road 21 after a man reported his neighbor had cut down several trees on his property while building a fence. The neighbor reportedly said she didn’t know why the man’s property had been damaged and was “embarrassed” by the episode. The two reached a civil agreement on how to clean up the property. No charges were filed.

6:51 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of criminal mischief in the 24000 block of County Road G. A woman reported an estimated $60 of damage had been done to her mailbox on June 13, apparently by an object from a moving vehicle. The case was closed due to a lack of leads.

7:54 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 30000 block of U.S. Highway 160 on a La Plata County warrant for aggravated motor vehicle theft after deputies responded to a report that he was walking into oncoming traffic while attempting to hitchhike. Four marijuana cigarettes were found in his possession, and he reportedly asked deputies to destroy them because he expected their quality to decline while he was in jail.

Saturday, June 16

11:43 a.m.: A man was arrested at the Cortez Softball Complex, 24300 County Road G.2, on suspicion of DUI, driving under restraint and child abuse after he was pulled over for reportedly doing donuts in a parking lot and almost striking several cars. A juvenile was reportedly in his vehicle when he was pulled over. The man was medically cleared due to severe intoxication.

12:01 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 24000 block of County Road G.2 on suspicion of driving under restraint after deputies responded to a report that he driven away from the Cortez Softball Complex intoxicated. He reportedly did not show enough signs of intoxication for a DUI charge.

1:25 p.m.: A woman was arrested at the Cortez Softball Complex, 24300 County Road G.2, on suspicion of DUI, driving under restraint and child abuse. A female juvenile was reportedly in her vehicle when she was pulled over.

Sunday, June 17

12:40 p.m.: A man was cited on suspicion of violating the Montezuma County fire ban in the 15000 block of County Road 35 after he reportedly burned several cardboard boxes on his property and tried to put out the fire with a garden hose. He reportedly told deputies he thought the burn ban was over since it was raining.

6:50 p.m.: A man was cited on suspicion of failing to keep a dog under control in the 25000 block of County Road T.5 after a neighbor reported his dog had attacked a sheep on her property two days before. The neighbor initially said she did not want to press charges against the man, but she changed her mind after reporting the dog had run onto her property three days in a row. The man claimed his dog had been in a kennel for two days.

Monday, June 18

1:49 p.m.: A woman was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.

Tuesday, June 19

4:59 p.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving without number plates in the 7000 block of U.S. Highway 160 after he was pulled over for stopping on the roadway. He was medically cleared due to intoxication. When his vehicle was towed, deputies found a handgun, a knife and a katana inside it. The weapons were turned over to the man’s brother along with the vehicle.

Wednesday, June 20

12:27 a.m.: A man was cited on suspicion of disorderly conduct in the 10000 block of County Road 23 after he reportedly showed a handgun to another driver while confronting him about his driving. The man told deputies the other driver had almost run him off the road. The other driver’s mother, who was present at the time, said the suspect had been acting aggressively and refused to leave the scene until she called law enforcement.

9:44 a.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on two warrants for failure to appear on misdemeanor charges.

11:24 a.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on suspicion of violating a protection order after court deputies reported he had arrived late to a court date showing signs of intoxication.

Thursday, June 21

8:09 a.m.: A woman was cited on suspicion of third-degree criminal trespass in the 12000 block of County Road CC after a man reported she had entered his property after receiving a trespass notice the night before. Later in the evening, the woman was trespassed from another nearby property after the owner reported she had walked into her house without permission and started crying on her couch.

2:37 p.m.: A male inmate was served at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., with two warrants for failure to appear and a dangerous drug charge.

Friday, June 22

11:27 a.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on two warrants for failure to appear on misdemeanor charges.

8:05 p.m.: Deputies responded to a traffic accident involving a deer in the 12000 block of U.S. Highway 491. A deputy killed the injured deer, while Colorado State Patrol troopers took over the crash investigation.

8:42 p.m.: Deputies conducted a civil stand-by in the 12000 block of County Road CC to allow a woman to remove personal items from a property from which she had been trespassed two days before.

Saturday, June 23

1:45 a.m.: A man was cited on suspicion of driving under restraint in the 24000 block of County Road G after he was pulled over for weaving.

Sunday, June 24

2:45 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 31000 block of County Road P on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, violation of bail bond conditions, driving under restraint and possession of drug paraphernalia after deputies responded to a reported traffic accident in the area. The man was reportedly using his truck in an attempt to pull another truck out of the nearby canyon, and tried to drive away when deputies arrived. When deputies approached him, he reportedly acted nervous and appeared to be reaching for something in his vehicle, leading deputies to order him out of his car. A K9 alerted deputies to the possibility of drugs in the vehicle, and a search turned up a bag of meth in the pocket of the front passenger seat. A hypodermic needle was also found in the man’s pocket. Colorado State Patrol troopers took over the crash investigation.

5:25 p.m.: Deputies responded to a water dispute in the 7000 block of County Road 40.5. A member of the Heritage Estates Water Users Association claimed a man had tried to illegally claim the Association’s water after telling the Natural Resources Conservation Service that the Association did not exist. When a deputy asked the man for paperwork proving his water rights, he reportedly said he didn’t have it yet, and became hostile toward the deputy. The deputy warned the man that he would be charged if he took any water from the Association’s ditch.

8:38 p.m.: Two men were arrested at Ute Mountain Casino, 3 Weeminuche Drive, Towaoc, after employees reported one of them had dropped a bag of meth in the gift shop. After arrested that man on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, deputies contacted two people who had arrived at the casino with him. One of them was arrested on a La Plata County warrant for theft. The casino employees also told deputies that security video had recorded two other men conducting a drug deal. Deputies searched one of the men and found nothing illegal in his possession. The other man, who had a Durango warrant for failure to appear, was arrested by Bureau of Indian Affairs agents.
