H. G. Gaines, former salesman for Hallack & Howard Lumber Co., and the Newton Lumber Co., came in this week and is busy getting together a stock of building material which he will sell at the former Rust lumber yard. Mr. and Mrs. Gaines have rented a portion of the house occupied by Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Gelwick where they will reside.

Herbert Weaver, 24, son of Ralph Weaver, was almost instantly killed by a fall coal in a mine near Mancos Tuesday. Weaver was hauling coal from the mine and had gone into the workings to help bring out a car load of coal, when a cave came and he was buried by about 800 lbs. of rock and coal. His chest was badly crushed and he lived but a short time.

Recent compilations show there were 36,700,600 votes cast in the recent presidential election. Of these Franklin D. Roosevelt received 21,115,522 and Herbert Hoover 14,960,713. Roosevelts plurality was 6,154,809. There were still a few voting units to be heard from, mostly absentee votes.

Mr. and Mrs. Chas. B. Reid have moved to Durango this week where they expect to make their home for the winter.

Mesdames Vance Bradfield and Clara Jones will be hostesses to the Ladies Aid November 23 at the M. E. church.

H. L. Owens has been out in the Utah country for several days this week, doing surveying work for some of the residents in that vicinity.

Mesdames C. W. Lilly and R. T. Speck motored to Durango Wednesday, spending the day shopping and visiting with friends and acquaintances. Rex is son of Bob Hott, well known to all Dolores old-timers.

Mrs. D. G. Son, who for three weeks was very ill at St. Marys hospital, is doing well and has been removed to her home at 1060 Grand Avenue.

Chas. Lee and Floyd Wilber made a trip to Dove Creek Wednesday evening, taking Victor Lee, father of Charles Lee, to his home there. Mr. Lee came in a few days ago to see a doctor.

George Moore came down from Rico Sunday, en route to McPhee on business. His sister, Mrs. Reid, was unable to accompany him on this trip but expects to come down later to visit with her many friends in Dolores.

The Dolores Civic Club met Tuesday evening for their regular monthly session. Only a few members were present. Routine business was taken up, the main topic for discussion being ways and means of making some money for their treasury.

Mr. and Mrs. Dick Tucker left last Saturday for Salida, where Mrs. Tucker remained with an aunt and will take a series of medical treatments. Dick returned to Dolores Monday. Baby Gloria is staying with her aunts, Mrs. K. Tucker and Mrs. Hugh McCormick, while her mother is away.
