1:25 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 24000 block of County Road F.5 on a warrant for failure to appear after deputies responded to a verbal disturbance in the area. He was medically cleared for jail at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication.
Friday, July 6
2:48 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a dog bite in the 400 block of Central Avenue, Dolores. A man reported a dog had bitten him on the back of the knee while he was walking past a house the previous night, causing a minor puncture wound. When deputies spoke to the dog’s owner, he reportedly said his dog was not normally aggressive, and he believed it was trying to protect him because the other man had been intoxicated and acting strange. Both parties agreed to settle the matter civilly, and no charges were filed.
5:38 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a possible hazardous material spill at the Dolores post office, 1000 Railroad Ave. Post office employees reported a suspicious package was leaking an unknown substance. A Colorado Hazmat Trooper reportedly identified the substance as a pesticide that posed no immediate threat to the public. Colorado State Patrol took over the investigation.
8:34 p.m.: A man was cited on suspicion of violating the fire ban in the 8000 block of County Road 40.25 after a witness reported he had lit a fire in a homemade fire pit.
Saturday, July 7
4:14 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a wallet found at the Mesa Verde National Park entrance, 34000 U.S. Highway 160. They contacted the owner of the wallet and placed it into evidence for safekeeping until he was able to pick it up or have it sent to his address.
5:27 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a lost bicycle in the 24000 block of County Road T. A man reported he had attached his white mountain bike, valued at $1,600, to the rack on his vehicle before leaving his Road T residence earlier in the day, but by the time he reached Dolores, it was gone. Deputies filed the bike as lost property.
8:30 p.m.: A man and a woman were arrested in the 12000 block of County Road 22 after deputies responded to a report of an injured person denying medical assistance. A witness reported the woman had hit the man on the head with a frying pan during an argument about her use of meth. The man, who had suffered a head injury, reportedly went inside when he saw deputies, and the woman refused to open the door for them or cooperate until a deputy threatened to use his stun gun on her. The man was arrested on two warrants for failure to appear, but deputies requested they be changed to personal recognizance bonds so that he could be treated at Southwest Memorial Hospital for his head injury. The woman was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear and on suspicion of second-degree assault, domestic violence and obstruction of a peace officer.
9:39 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a fight in the 25000 block of County Road G. A man claimed another man had attacked him, hitting him in the head and side. The other man claimed the reporting party was the one who attacked him. When deputies contacted the first man again, he said he no longer wanted to press charges.
Sunday, July 8
3:47 a.m.: Deputies responded to a one-vehicle traffic accident in the 27000 block of Colorado Highway 184. A truck reportedly went off the road and into a field. The male driver reportedly told on-scene medics that he took the turn too fast. Colorado State Patrol took over the investigation.
Monday, July 9
2:27 p.m.: A woman was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.
Tuesday, July 10
3:30 p.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant in the 900 block of South Broadway.
