The Visitor Center will be closed beginning Monday, Dec. 24 through Friday, Jan. 4, and will reopen on Monday, Jan. 7. If you hope to do some holiday shopping at the VC gift shop, remember to stop in and shop by Friday, Dec. 21. We continue to have our holiday sale going on with 20 percent off all children's toys and books, as well as all maps and even Louis L'Amour books and maps. The VC is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Chamber of Commerce members who rely on the weekly newsletter published on Thursday, need to be aware that there will be a newsletter this Thursday, Dec. 14 and one next week on Tuesday, Dec. 18. If you have a holiday open house coming up or other holiday event that you want published, please, get information to the VC by Monday, Dec. 17 for publication next week. You can send your information via e-mail to chamber@mancosvalley.com. The Chamber of Commerce "Take Note" newsletter will be suspended during Christmas week and the week of New Years. Publication will resume on Thursday, Jan. 10.

"Mancos Olde Fashioned Christmas" activities continue this week with the judging of Christmas light displays that have been put up at various businesses in town. The award of a Navajo weaving for the best light display will be given at the community dinner this Friday. Kilgore Indian Art donated the Navajo weaving to encourage business owners to do their best decorations this year. Next Tuesday, Dec. 18, Nathaniel's of Colorado and the Goodnight Trail Gallery will present Christmas on the Trail. There will be a western gear show at Nathaniel's and the chuck wagon will come to town and serve up cowboy coffee and chuck wagon chow from 4 to 8 p.m. An Olde Fashioned Christmas hasn't arrived in Mancos until the cowboys and cowgirls come to town. So, come into town and get in the holiday spirit.

As we move along with this holiday season remember that local shops plan to stay open later in the evening on Fridays.
