2012 in review - A year in pictures

THE FIRST GROUP of cyclists with the USA Pro Cycling Challenge rolled downhill into Dolores at a very quick speed this August. They were followed by their support crews. At front is a camera man on a motorcycle. The entire event was broadcasted live online and brought over 100 Dolores and area residents to cheer on the world-class cyclists.

DEBBIE VALERIO competed in the chainsaw competition during Escalante Days in front of the gutted Hollywood Bar and Fusion Studios. Valerio finished second in her class.

THE WATERMELON eating contest at the 2012 Escalante Days, sponsored by Circle K Ranch, was a big hit with kids.

GLENN SMITH made his way through the fresh snow near Boggy Draw after a 2012 snowstorm.

AN OSPREY stopped to rest on a power pole near Joe Rowell Park this spring after snatching a fish out of the Dolores River.

A CRAB APPLE trees bloom frames the Galloping Goose. It was a big year for the Galloping Goose Historical Society, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2012.
