The Piñon Project’s Youth Empowerment Project is preparing for its annual Christmas for Kids program, which helps families provide gifts for their children.

Last year, Christmas for Kids served 603 children up to age 17, program manager Ian Elder-Cheyne said in a news release.

Christmas for Kids will not officially occur until December, but Elder-Cheyne said the Piñon Project is trying to line up as many donations in advance to ensure it can serve as many families as possible.

“As we seek early donations to ensure the success of this much-needed event, it is our hope that donors might help to provide hygiene products such as Axe kits, makeup kits, Dove kits, ear buds or other electronic accessories, new toys (all ages), wrapping paper, boxes or bows,” Elder-Cheyne said. “We also welcome cash donations that help us purchase last-minute items needed during this often hectic endeavor.”

Donors will receive a thank you letter by Jan. 31. For more information, call the Youth Empowerment Project staff at 970-564-3801, extension 2, or email christmasforkids@pinonproject.org.
