The Mancos Valley Visitor Center has reopened. Office hours at the center are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. As we hunker down for the winter season, I have been asked "Where can you go on a Sunday afternoon to hang out and enjoy friends?" Well, you could begin your day with some cross-country skiing at Chicken Creek Nordic Ski area north of town. The Visitor Center has maps and information. Check with Mesa Verde National Park, too. When there is enough snow, the Park will open certain designated areas for skiing and snowshoeing.

When you have completed your outdoor adventures, here are some suggestions for later in the day.

Zuma Natural Foods, on the corner of Highway 160 and Main Street, always has a pot of coffee going and they have a lovely warm, sunny place to sit and enjoy your brew while you visit with friends. The Millwood, also on the corner of Highway 160 and Main Street, serves brunch on Sundays and you can enjoy a mimosa with your coffee. The P & D, on the Frontage Road the north side of Highway 160, is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's a great place to run into friends and neighbors while you grab a slice of pizza and a cold drink. You can view a football game or play some pool with friends at the Columbine Bar on Grand Avenue. They have a variety of snacks and libations, too. Later in the afternoon, you could enjoy a glass of wine and a very special dinner at Olio on Grand Avenue.

Mancos is definitely quieter during the winter months. This is a time when the locals can get out and appreciate our Mancos businesses without the volume of tourists in town. Enjoy our little town and all it has to offer.
