The question of whether or not Colorado should discontinue its present policy of constructing most of its major highways of concrete and lean more strongly to oil is causing much discussion in road building circles these days. Members of the highway advisory board are about evenly divided on the matter.

Noel Sitton and John Dunbar, of Dove Creek, have recently closed a deal for the purchase of the Floyd Johnson store at Cahone. It is said that Mr. Johnson will devote his time to farming operations near Cahone.

Fritz Brand, who for several years ran a butcher shop in Dolores, died Sunday in a Durango hospital. Brand was 74 years old and had been in poor health for some years.

In answer to the cry for a permanent game warden to be located here, Game and Fish Commissioner Parvin has assigned Jack Moss, of Bayfield, to this territory to remain here until a permanent appointment can be made. The report recently circulated that deer were being slain by the hundreds in the Dolores vicinity, has proven to have been about 99 percent exaggeration, says Mr. Moss. Mr. Moss believes that few deer are being killed. However he has been investigating all reports of violations made to him. He has made no arrests.

Ward Emerson has been confined to quarters this week with a sore side. He strained himself Sunday while lifting on a car, but will be about again in a few days.

George Denby drove the snow plow over the river road Monday as far as West Fork. He spent the night at the Ed Akin place and returned to Dolores Tuesday.
