Leonard Robinson was elected at the Town Board meeting Tuesday night to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of W. R. McCabe.

Following the snow storm which swept practically the entire western part of the United States early in the week, Dolores was visited with the coldest spell of weather, Tuesday night, in the memory of the oldest inhabitant. The thermometer at the Star office registered 28 degrees below zero during the night. The temperature was ten below zero at six-o'clock Tuesday evening. The report from Cortez, where the government weather bureau station is kept, was 31 degrees below zero.

Ed Boehm is having counters and other fixtures installed in one of the rooms at the rear of the Del Rio hotel and will start a restaurant there as soon as the work is completed. Mr. Boehm is an experienced restaurant man.

The Dolores community was shocked and saddened yesterday afternoon when R. A. Buchta, one of its respected citizens, died suddenly from a heart attack. Mr. Buchta was bringing one of his children to the residence of Mrs. Alice Akin, where Mrs. Buchta was later to attend a meeting of the Baptist Auxiliary. As he neared the town hall he became ill and asked the assistance of the Town Clerk A. S. Miller to get to the Phlegar residence a half a block away. Once at the home, Dr. Lefurgey was summoned, but Mr. Buchta passed away almost as soon as the doctor arrived.

Mr. and Mrs. George Denby moved last week from Cortez to Dolores where they will make their home in the future. Mr. Denby is employed on the county highway crew.

The members of the Baptist church extended a call to Rev. Rudd of Dove Creek last Sunday which he has accepted. It is announced that he will fill the Dolores Baptist pulpit on alternate Sundays from now until further notice.

Mrs. W. A. Frazier who has been ill for several days, became seriously ill Wednesday evening and was rushed to the Johnson hospital for an emergency operation. The lady was reported doing as well as could be expected yesterday.

J. W. and Wilkes Bozman went to Denver last week in time to get mixed up in the blockade on Cumbres. It was reported they put in their time wising up the Ford dealers at Antonito and Alamosa on the finer points of the automobile business.

Mrs. Neoma Lewis, of Mancos, who has been visiting at the John Tibbits home, received a fractured arm last Friday. She was scuffling with some of the family and fell on the floor, breaking the small bone and fracturing the larger bone on her right arm.
Thos. Mitchell and Ed. Paulett, partners in business of dispensing paper and hardware, were here Monday. They came in by way of Slick Rock and found roads in good condition at the time. But things have happened since Sunday.

J. L. Trimble, who is spending the after portion of the winter in California and other warm points, has written the Star a letter, saying that he and his daughter, Miss Winnie, arrived OK, the second day out from here with no mishaps of any kind and that roads were good. He says they were having lots of rain out there at the time the letter was written, Feb. 2, G. Hog day, by the way, Mr. Trimble is feeling better and says that his cough left him "like a five dollar bill leaves a Dolores sucker." The Trimbles will be home by the time grass is green on the south slopes.
