Photos: Getting ready for more snow

Durango got a dose of winter Thursday night. According to the National Weather Service, there is a 40 percent chance of snow Saturday afternoon. On Sunday, that chance increases to 70 percent before tapering off by 11 p.m. Monday’s forecast is mostly sunny but with a high of only 31 degrees.

Snow plows cleared County Road 200 north of Durango on Friday morning after snow fell overnight and Friday morning.

The tire shop was busy as drivers got serious about getting new tires or putting on snow tires in anticipation of more snow this weekend. The business was expecting to put tires on 40 cars or more for the day.

Peerless Tire on Main Avenue had all hands on deck Friday as employees, front to back, Cory McVay, Austin Schmitt, Joe Carver and Chip McCormick run non-stop to put new or snow tires on customers’ cars.
