Cortez rest area will be closed for paving

Kemper Elementary tutoring received an $800 donation from 12 Hours of Mesa Verde proceeds.

Grace's Kitchen received an $800 donation from 12 Hours of Mesa Verde proceeds.

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) announces that the Sleeping Ute Rest Area will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, September 20 and 21. CDOT crews will be repaving the parking lot. The rest area is located on US Highway 160, approximately five miles east of Cortez.

Travelers will be able to gain access when the rest area re-opens beginning Thursday, September 22.
