Wednesday, Dec. 12
8:38 p.m.: A man allegedly stabbed another man with a pen or pencil during a scuffle at a residence on the 200 block of S. Fourth St. in Dolores. Due to lack of evidence on who aggravated the incident, the case was forwarded to the district attorney’s office for review and charges.
Friday, Dec. 14
7:11 p.m.: A white Toyota pickup backed into a black Jeep at Family Dollar, 324 S. Broadway. Damage was minimal, and no citations were issued.
Saturday, Dec. 15
12:29 a.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear after he was pulled over for speeding near milepost 22 on U.S. Highway 160.
10:30 p.m.: Officers responded to a physical disturbance on the 27000 block of County Road H but did not file charges.
Sunday, Dec. 16
12:00 a.m.: A 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix that blocked the intersection of County Road U.7 and County Road 26 was towed for being a traffic hazard.
5:52 p.m.: Officers responded to a domestic dispute on the 14000 block of County Road 22. A man had reportedly smacked a cigarette out of his wife’s mouth. The woman said she did not want to press charges, but the man was arrested for harassment and domestic violence and taken to Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
6:03 p.m.: A woman reported that her license plates had possibly been stolen from her property on the 24000 block of County Road K.8.
8:02 a.m.: A deputy euthanized an injured deer in the roadway on the 15000 block of Colorado Highway 145.
Monday, Dec. 17
1:30 p.m.: An unidentified person found a wallet and dropped it off at Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office, at 730 E. Driscoll St. It contained a Colorado ID, but the owner was not located.
8:43 p.m.: A deputy assisted in trying to locate a missing person who alternates living in Montezuma County and Silverton. The Montrose Daily Press later reported that the man died in an ATV rollover accident on Dec. 18.
Tuesday, Dec. 18
12:47 p.m.: A man in custody at Montezuma County Detention Center, at 730 E. Driscoll St., was served a warrant for failure to appear.
8:05 p.m.: A report of a man attempting to ram his car into a sales booth at the Four Corners Monument turned out to be a misunderstanding. A man was found drinking in his vehicle at the monument, but he was not driving and there was no accident or collision. An MCSO sergeant transported the man to the Bridge Emergency Shelter. No charges were filed.
Wednesday, Dec. 19
9:31 a.m.: A man was arrested on two failure to comply warrants on the 18000 block of Colorado Highway 145. Sheriff Steve Nowlin and a deputy located the man and initiated a traffic stop.
11:05 a.m.: A man was served a failure to comply warrant at Montezuma County Combined Courts, at 865 N. Park St.
10:11 p.m.: A woman driving a white sedan with non-illuminated license plates was pulled over on the 30000 block of U.S. Highway 160. She was found to have an active felony warrant out of the Denver Police Department for computer crimes and theft and was arrested.
Thursday, Dec. 20
4:26 p.m.: A woman at Montezuma County Combined Courts, at 865 N. Park St., was arrested for contempt of court.
11:20 p.m.: An inmate at Montezuma County Detention Center has displaying “unruly conduct” while exercising in the yard. When detention officers asked the man to place his hands against the wall, they noticed plastic tubes concealed in his “man bun.” They found three hypodermic needles, one possibly containing Suboxone, a drug that treats opioid dependence. He is charged with possession of contraband involving a dangerous instrument and possession of a schedule III, IV or V controlled substance.
11:16 p.m.: Colorado State Patrol stopped a car with four people who appeared intoxicated. MCSO was called for cover. The driver was arrested for DUI alcohol and told the trooper he had a medicine pouch in his pocket containing peyote. For that, he was arrested on a charge of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.
Friday, Dec. 21
10:25 a.m.: A man called to report a disturbance on the 12000 block of U.S. Highway 491. He said a man came on his property and accused him of speeding on County Road 24. The man reached inside his breast pocket and threatened the property owner, who called 911. The man was found to have a 9mm Makarov semi-automatic pistol in his leather vest, which violated a protection order stating he cannot possess a firearm. He was arrested for menacing and violating a protection order.
2:23 p.m.: A man was served a failure to comply felony warrant on the 15 block of W. Montezuma Ave. in Cortez.
10:47 p.m.: A man was served a failure to comply warrant on the on the 200 block of N. Fifteenth St. in Dolores. He was residing with a woman who has a protection order against him. He had two previous protection order violations.
Saturday, Dec. 22
2:19 a.m.: A driver came very close to causing a head-on collision with a deputy’s marked patrol vehicle on the 8000 block of County Road 25. The deputy was traveling northbound on County Road 25 when a southbound vehicle rounded a corner at a high rate of speed partially in the northbound lane, forcing the deputy to drive off the road. He pulled around and stopped the vehicle. She was slurring her words and used the car for balance when she exited the vehicle. She could not answer basic questions or spell her own name properly. She blew a .200 BrAC. She was arrested on charges of DUI alcohol, reckless driving and driving without a license.
Sunday, Dec. 23
4:00 p.m.: MCSO and Cortez Police responded to a disturbance at Happy Valley Trailer Park, at 203 E. Seventh St. A man with multiple active warrants had ran southbound into a canyon. He refused to comply with demands and was smoking marijuana from a pipe. Officers informed the man that a K9 would be deployed if he did not come out of the canyon. A K9 was deployed and bit the man. Medics were called to provide medical attention.
Monday, Dec. 24
11:29 a.m.: A gold Hyundai with no license plates was blocking the roadway on the 7000 block of County Road 25. The vehicle was towed and the owner was contacted by telephone. She said she would contact the tow company to retrieve her vehicle.
5:28 p.m.: A driver on the 14000 block of U.S. Highway 491 was cited for driving 82 mph in a 65 mph zone. He became irate when the deputy issued the summons and used profanities because the deputy did not “cut him a break.”
