6:01 p.m.: A woman in the booking area of Montezuma County Detention Center, at 730 E. Driscoll St., was served a warrant.
Sunday, Dec. 23
6:15 p.m.: A USPS mail carrier called to report a suspicious vehicle following her on the 7000 block of County Road 25. A deputy contacted the driver of a Nissan SUV, smelled alcohol and proceeded to arrest him for DUI alcohol.
Monday, Dec. 24
3:28 p.m.: A man was arrested for harassment and domestic violence for shoving and strangling his wife on the 5000 block of County Road 25. The wife denied medical attention and said the altercation didn’t cause her physical pain.
7:24 p.m.: A dog attacked a sheep on the 13000 block of County Road 33. A similar incident occurred on Nov. 5, when a dog killed two sheep. The owner of the sheep said he has done everything he can to prevent the dog from attacking his animals. Deputies then traveled to the dog owner’s home, where a woman was observed trying to get more than 10 dogs inside the home. A black and white pit bull was seen with blood around his mouth and front legs. The owner of the dog was cited for ownership of a dangerous dog and dog not under control.
10:29 p.m.: A man crashed a Subaru Legacy into a ditch at First St. and Central Ave. in Dolores. The driver admitted to smoking marijuana and meth earlier in the day. He was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving under restraint and careless driving.
Tuesday, Dec. 25
12:15 p.m.: A deputy responded to a 911 hang up on the 40700 block of U.S. Highway 160 in Mancos. A resident there one week ago called regarding a protection order violation. A man with scratches on his nose said a woman he knows “was going psycho.” He said he knew he wasn’t supposed to be near a woman at the residence, but said, “You know how love goes.” He was arrested for violating a protection order.
Wednesday, Dec. 26
9:36 a.m.: A man was served three failure to appear warrants at Montezuma County Detention Center, at 730 E. Driscoll St.
3:47 p.m.: A deputy assisted a Colorado State Trooper in locating a driver who fled on foot from his vehicle on County Road A near U.S. Highway 160. The deputy followed the man’s footprints a mile north, then a mile west. The footprints headed up a steep hillside toward Towaoc. The trooper and deputy lost the footprints about a quarter-mile away from Towaoc. A Bureau of Indian Affairs investigator drove the trooper and deputy back to their vehicles.
9:38 p.m.: An intoxicated man was walking down the middle of the road on the 11000 block of County Road 26. He said he was lost and had defecated himself. While en route to Southwest Memorial Hospital, at 1311 N. Mildred Road, he attempted to bite a medic. He was transported to Montezuma County Detention Center, at 730 E. Driscoll Road, and arrested on charges of intoxicated pedestrian in the roadway and obstructed highway.
Thursday, Dec. 27
10:20 a.m.: A woman was served a warrant for failure to comply at the Montezuma County Detention Center, at 730 E. Driscoll St.
12:04 p.m.: A man called to report that his tenant had broken his fence with an ATV on the 30000 block of County Road W in Dolores. If the tenant does not repair the fence by May 2019, there could be criminal charges.
11:42 p.m.: An intoxicated man drove a vehicle off the road on the 34000 block of U.S. Highway 160. Colorado State Patrol took over the investigation. The driver was placed into custody.
Friday, Dec. 28
1:00 p.m.: A man was served two warrants for failure to appear at the Montezuma County Detention Center, at 730 E. Driscoll St.
7:53 p.m.: A man driving a Dodge Caravan at mile marker 19 on U.S. Highway 160, near the Ute Mountain Casino, allegedly made two illegal passes and was following too closely when it was snowing. Bureau of Indian Affairs arrested him for DUI.
Saturday, Dec. 29
9:48 p.m.: A man was arrested for violation of a protection order on the 200 block of N. 15th St.
3:49 p.m.: A woman was served two warrants for failure to appear at the Montezuma County Detention Center, at 730 E. Driscoll St.
10:09 p.m.: A woman was served a failure to appear warrant on the 13000 block of Colorado Highway 145.
Sunday, Dec. 30
12:31 a.m.: A man driving a gray sedan with no visible registration led law enforcement officers on a chase for about eight minutes from Eagle Claw Liquor Store, at 4321 U.S. Highway 160, to the intersection of Market St. and Third St. in Cortez. A passenger in the vehicle, who was released after an interview, said the driver would not stop. Cortez Police Department and Colorado State Patrol assisted Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office with the pursuit. The driver was arrested on charges of DUI, driving on a revoked license as a habitual offender, driving without insurance, reckless driving, vehicular eluding and second-degree assault for spitting in a Cortez Police officer’s face.
3:33 p.m.: No arrests were made in a physical disturbance on the 28000 block of County Road K.2 due to conflicting stories, but a man who was involved was arrested on a failure to appear warrant.
7:24 p.m.: A man called to report a possible theft of a 1999 Dodge Durango on the 18000 block of Colorado Highway 145. He said he employs a handyman that uses the Durango for work duties, but the handyman had not returned the vehicle for six days.
