Liquor held the center of the stage around the capitol last week - well, that is, discussion of liquor problems. The "tavern bill," which permits the sale of beer, if, and when it is legalized by congress, in beer taverns in Colorado passed the lower house and was sent to the senate.

The condition of Newell Musgrave, who is confined at the Cortez hospital with an injured leg, is much improved and his friends are very much pleased at this turn for the better. Mr. Musgrave was injured last Christmas day while skiing, receiving a bad gash on his right leg. Infection set in and he has been in a bad way for the past several weeks.

Kenneth Simmons, 12-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Walt Simmons, formerly of Dolores, died at Farmington early Sunday morning from burns received at the home of a friend near Aztec Saturday evening. Young Simmons was visiting at the Shook home and he and two other boys were preparing to pop some corn. One of them threw kerosene on live coals in the stove and caused an explosion which severely burned all three.

Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Moss, of Lockerby, Utah, are celebrating the arrival of a fine baby boy, born on Feb. 23, Dr. H. C. Lefurgey in attendance.

Roy Hart reported having received word that his brother, Claude Hart, who is well known in Dolores and McPhee, was recently married at Mineral Wells, Texas.

Mrs. Leland Chappel and small child came over from Montrose Monday and are spending some time visiting with Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Smith, parents of Mrs. Chappel.

Mr. and Mrs. Milton Morgan were Dolores visitors Tuesday and reported having tried to get north form Cortez to their home, but were unable to get over the road on account of the mud.

Misses Gladys Adams, Ruth Warfield and Vernon Miller were dinner guests Wednesday evening of James Phlegar. Mrs. Phlegar prepared a delicious dinner for the young folks.
