Millwood Follies returns
The 30th annual Millwood Follies will be held at the Millwood Junction Restaurant, 101 W. Railroad Ave., in Mancos on Saturday, March 2. Dinner will be served beginning at 5 p.m., with entertainment starting at 7. Seating is limited and audience members are encouraged to arrive early for the entertaining evening The event will raise funds for the Women's Cancer Coalition. There will also be a silent auction/door prize; item donations should be directed to Kelli Yeomans at 946-1843 or Dana Weaver at 533-7113. 4-H meeting
There will be a 4-H meeting Sunday, March 3 at 7 p.m. It will be held at the Lakeview Grange.
Knot Tying 101
Everyone is welcome to a presentation by Bill Vicary, "Knot Tying 101" at the Mesa Verde Back Country Horsemen gathering on Tuesday, March 5, at the Elks Lodge, 2100 N. Dolores Rd., in Cortez. Arrive for dinner at 6:15 p.m. for buy your own Taco Tuesday; the presentation will start at 7 p.m. Bill Vicary became interested in knot tying back in Michigan where he was involved with sailing small boats while working at a summer camp. Volunteer training at Medicine Horse Center
Medicine Horse Center will hold a volunteer training on Wednesday, March 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for anyone wishing to participate. Looking for a great way to spend your free time this year? Volunteers are needed for our therapeutic riding sessions in Mancos. Horse experience is welcome, but not necessary. We'll teach you everything you need to know. New volunteers are always welcome! Fruit Tree Pruning Workshop
A fruit tree pruning workshop will be held on Thursday, March 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Southwest Colorado Research station, approximately 17 miles north of Cortez on Hwy. 491 and west 1/4 mile on Road Z. Participants are asked to register by phoning either Montezuma County Extension at 565-3123 or Dolores County Extension at 677-2283. The cost is $15 per person, payable the day of the workshop. You must bring your own chair, water, snacks, lunch and dress in warm clothing. If you want to learn by hands-on pruning, bring your loppers or hand pruners. Please leave pets at home.
2013 Birding Festival meeting
Join the Cortez Cultural Center 25 N. Market on Friday March 8 at 7 p.m. and learn everything you always wanted to know about the Birding Festival. Our local festival has become one of the best. A presentation will be offered by Diane Cerbak who will discuss some of the exciting adventures planned for this year's event. Classical Gas performs Cortez concert
Southwest Colorado Concerts presents Classical Gas, a concert with piano, violin and a whole lot of fun, on Thursday, March 7 at 7 p.m. in the Montezuma-Cortez High School auditorium. Pianist Rich Ridenour teams up with violinist/comedian Steve Brook for a show that is a little bit Jack Benny and a little bit Victor Borge as they perform classics fueled by their own imaginations. They will perform great classics such as "At the Old Ballgame," Beethoven's "Fifth Symphony" and "11 Finger Rag" by Dykstra. Music in Motion classes
Music in Motion, a music class for children ages birth through 6 and their caregivers, will begin on Monday, March 11 at Come Dance Tonight, located at 30 West Main, Cortez, at 9:30 AM. This will be a 10-week session, running every Monday (except for April 1), until May 20. Harlem Ambassadors basketball show
Get ready for dazzling ball-handling tricks, high flying slam dunks and hilarious family comedy. Join the Harlem Ambassadors basketball show on Wednesday, March 13 at 7 p.m. as they take on the Montezuma Mavericks at the Montezuma-Cortez High School gym. Purchase tickets in advance for $7 for students and seniors or $10 for adults, at the Cortez Cultural Center, 25 N. Market St. and at M-CHS. Tickets will also be available at the door for $2 more. Horsemen to hold monthly meeting
The Four Corners Back Country Horsemen will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, March 14 at the La Plata County Fairgrounds in Durango. Social time will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will start at 7. Guests are always encouraged to attend.
This is an important meeting to attend if you'll be volunteering to work at the Tack Sale in April. There will be an ice cream social starting at 6:30.

Supper Bowl and Cupcake Bar benefit
Come out Friday, March 15 at 5 p.m. for a build-your-own chili "Supper" Bowl for $3 a bowl.
Treats from the Cupcake Bar will be $1 per cupcake. Complimentary coffee and assorted teas will be provided. A silent auction will be held ending at 7:15. This fundraiser is under the direction of Team God's Kidz and will be held in the lower level of First Baptist Church, 100 North Market Street in Cortez, across from the Cortez Cultural Center and Ertel Funeral Home. Spring Hoedown multi-band fundraiser
The Spring Hoedown fundraiser is set for Saturday, March 16 from 5:30 to 11 p.m. at the Mancos Opera House. This event benefits Montezuma School to Farm Project and Pay It Forward Fund. There will be musical performances by Robbie Overfield and the Breaks, Hello Dollface, Caruta Roma, as well as square dancing and line-dancing with Carla Roberts, and the Wild West Squares Hoedown. There will also be a silent auction, and local food, beer and wine will be available for purchase. Art Goodtimes will emcee the event. Admission is $20 for adults; ages 17 and under are free. Two on Tap coming to Cortez
Southwest Colorado Concerts presents Two on Tap performing a concert of song and tap dance, on Tuesday, April 2 at 7 p.m. in the Montezuma-Cortez High School auditorium. Two On Tap marks the creative collaboration of two celebrated Broadway musical theatre performers Melissa Giattino and Ron DeStefano. Their combined love for the beautiful melodies from the early days of Broadway along with the classic precision of tap choreography take center stage in their hit show A Tribute To Song And Dance. Tickets will be on sale at the door; single-concert tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for youth, 18 years old and under. Season tickets for the 4-concert 2013-2014 season will also be on sale, $45 for adults and $10 for youth 18 years old and younger.
