Some of you have not, I repeat, have not paid your 2013 membership dues. Now I know that we are all busy and sometimes things fall through the cracks so please get those in as soon as possible or you will not make it into our brochure and will be removed from our website.
Our Spring Banquet is set for April 27 at the Dolores Community Center. The theme will be Hawaiian.
This year you will see a completely new and improved brochure. We are giving it a complete face lift and will include a QR code so people can access our website from their smart-phones or mobile devises.
Rimrock Outfitters is offering a 4-day and 3-night, once-in-a-lifetime archeological horseback trip back in time. It will be in the Ute Mountain Tribal Park May 20 to 23. Karla's Kitchen is now open 7 days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. I can't wait to check out their dinner menu.
Riverfront Pizza is doing a big remodel. They plan on having a full bar a bigger patio and much more. That is exciting. Our next Chamber membership meeting will be Wednesday, March 27 at noon at the Riverfront Pizza. Our guest speaker has yet to be finalized.
Do you have any stunning pictures of our area laying around or proudly displayed somewhere? Well the Montezuma County Amateur Photo Contest is looking for both photos and businesses willing to display these photos. This is being hosted by the Dolores, Mancos and Cortez Area Chambers of Commerce.
The contest is open to amateurs only. A professional is defined as one whose primary source of income (50%) or more results from his/her photographic work. The purpose of this contest is to generate a photo library for use by the local Chambers of Commerce for the promotion of the Montezuma County area. Three photographs will be selected as First, Second and Third place. There will be recognition for two Honorable Mention entries also. First Prize $ 100.00 ~Second Prize $ 50.00 ~Third Prize $ 30.00. Our February Business after Hours at the Second Chance Thrift Store was a huge success. Renew runs the thrift store. Thank you to Cheryl, Tory, Dawn and the crew for putting on a great Business after Hours.
Many people are struggling in this economy. To help ease some of that burden there is a FREE community dinner every Thursday night at 6pm at the Cortez Family Worship Center Foursquare Church 500 N. Washington in Cortez. Everyone is welcome. Invite your family and friends.
Another new idea we are implementing in 2013 is that our chamber board has decided to let me loose on the community!! You will be seeing your chamber director inside of your businesses much more frequently as the board has decided that the director should be more visible, and find out what you business owners and towns folks are thinking. We desire and encourage everybody's input and suggestions as to how we can better serve Dolores. So if you stop by the visitor's center during normal business hours and it is closed this will probably be why.
Our next business after hours will be March 21 from 5 to 7pm. The location has yet to be determined.
