Dolores Healing Space to host 'Cholesterol Myth'



On Monday,March 18 from 6 to 7 p.m., Amy Loschert, ND, will present "The Cholesterol Myth" What are the true risk factors for heart disease and the best practices for prevention? What is meant by "good" and "bad" cholesterol? Join us for this informative presentation on what you need to know about cholesterol, and how you can help keep your heart healthy! Student/Parent Coalition to meet March 18



The SPC meeting will be Monday the 18th from 5:30 p.m., Dolores Library, if your schedule does work for the early time please feel free to come later. We have a lot to cover so we need everyone's input.



Free tax return assistance offered



The Dolores Public Library will offer free tax return assistance from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on March 21 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Erin Sweet Neer, CPA will be providing assistance for 2012 US & Colorado income tax returns.

(Eligible returns include 1040EZ, 1040A and Schedule A. Schedules E (Rental Income and C (Business Income) are not eligible for this free assistance). Come Prepared - be sure to bring the following: All W-2's, 1099's and any other income related documents, proof of mortgage interest, property taxes, daycare payments, charitable contributions and all other tax-deductible expenses, any education expenses (1098T from your college), a copy of last year's return, if available, photo ID and Social Security Card, bank account number and routing number for direct deposit of your refund.

Assistance will be offered on a first come, first served basis. Please call the library (882-4127) or register in person.





Southeast Utah research presentation



A presentation by Fred Blackburn and Chuck Haspels - "The Search for the Basketmaker... A Journey To Harvard's Peabody Museum" - will take place on Thursday, March 21 at 7 p.m. at the 1st National Bank, 2285 E. Main Street, Cortez. The presenters will share stories and information discovered during field research in southeast Utah and the collections at to Harvard's Peabody Museum in Cambridge, Mass.

This event is open to the public. Suggested donation is $10-$20, larger donations are greatly appreciated. Proceeds will be donated to the Tuition Assistance Programs offered by The Children's Kiva Montessori School. These Tuition Assistance Programs provide tuition subsidies and scholarships to expand the opportunity for all children in Montezuma County to enroll in the school's Montessori preschool and kindergarten programs.

Leave No Trace training



Dolores River Boating Advocates will host a "Leave No Trace" awareness workshop for whitewater boaters on Saturday, March 23 at 4Corners Riversports in Durango from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Learn how to minimize impacts to the rivers Rick Ryan, former BLM Dolores River ranger, will lead the training. Cost is $10, which includes lunch and all materials. Space is limited, register by calling 799-1475 or email info@doloresriverboating.org.





Bingo to benefit Operation Graduation



Come One Come ALL... Dolores Rotary Bingo Tuesday March 26. Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. (chili and soups, drink and dessert for $5) and exciting, competative, friendly, get out of the house BINGO at 7 p.m. Help support the Dolores Operation Graduation by playing BINGO. Grab your friends and family members for a fun night of support for Operation Graduation and the Dolores Rotary!





Sideshow to host music, film, art



The Sideshow Emporium & Gallery will presents Rural Gothic: art, music & film, a multi-media look at the dark and mythic aspects of small-town America.

Live music from Kustom Fronts, Holy Smokers, Ole Bye and more. Visual art by Dustyn Lyon, Hardison Collins and Rosie Carter, among others.One night only, Saturday March 23, starts at 8 p.m. sharp. Sideshow is at 411 Central, Dolores.
