If good sportsmanship had anything to do with winning the girls' basketball championship, it seems as if the Dolores girls are deserving of the honors. How Cortez can still claim a better team is hard to see. Individually and as a team, the Dolores girls showed more polish. How could a team better demonstrate its superiority than by defeating Cortez twice in succession.

The Dolores community was shocked Sunday by the news that H. V. Lee, Dolores cCunty citizen, well known here, had passed away at his home near Dove Creek. Funeral services were held at Dove Creek.

Sheriff W. W. Dunlap left Wednesday for Canon City with Chas. Bennett and Ed. Overstreet sentenced to from 2 1/2 to 4 years at the penitentiary for burglary. Bennett and Overstreet were found to be in possession of goods alleged to have been stolen by the pair from the ranch home of Chas. Grider, who lives northwest of Cortez, last fall. The articles consisted of china ware and silverware.

Lon Moore and Wilford Beals are in the hospital at Cortez, suffering from injuries received in an automobile accident near Ackmen early last Saturday morning. The young men had been attending a dance at Cahone and got in the rear end of a truck driven by George Maslen to ride home. As the truck approached the town of Ackmen, something went wrong with the steering mechanism and it ran off the road, turning over several times. Moore received several broken ribs and Beals internal injuries. Maslen was slightly injured.
