The Dolores County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Tuesday bomb threat at the Community Banks of Colorado in Dove Creek.
A press release from Dolores County Sheriff Don Wilson states his office received a report of a possible bomb threat on Tuesday afternoon. Officers evacuated the bank and nearby businesses for public safety.
Local schools were notified of a possible threat, the press release states. The area was released to normal business once the bank was deemed safe.
Montezuma County Sheriff Steve Nowlin said he sent one deputy to Dove Creek for assistance. Colorado State Patrol and a Colorado Parks and Wildlife office also responded.
Nowlin said the threat was called in long-distance by phone.
“It was unfounded,” Nowlin said. “Just threats.”
The Dove Creek Sheriff’s Office said the FBI was notified about the threat, but a spokesperson for the FBI told The Journal that the agency was not involved with the investigation.
