Local schools compete at yearly Grand Junction track event

Dove Creek tied rival Dolores with 27 points at the Mickey Dunn Invitational last Saturday in Grand Junction.

Montezuma-Cortez High School tallied 25 points to finish 13th. Durango won the girls team title with 82 points.

Michelle Kline raced to a fourth-place finish in the girls 400-meter dash for Dolores in a time of 65.26. Cassie Lard placed third in the 200 in 28.97, while taking fifth in the triple jump at 31-9.5.

Moki Yougquist was seventh in the boys 110-hurdles for Dolores at 17.84. The Bears were 19th as a team with four points.

Justice Ramos came in fifth in the boys 400 for M-CHS, clocking in at 54.79. Leander Rockwell heaved the discus 120-11, which was good for fifth-place. The Panthers placed 16th as a team with eight points.

Eagle Valley won the boys championship with 90 points.

Miranda Elliott paced the Lady Panthers with a third-place distance of 107-9 in the discus throw.

M-CHS and Dove Creek are off for spring break and will each resume action on Tuesday, April. 9.
