The students of Cortez Middle School are up in arms! Well, medieval arms, that is.

The seventh-graders on campus are busily working on their second annual Medieval Faire to be open to the public April 26 from 4 to 8 p.m. and April 27 from 9 a.m. to noon in the CMS main gym.

The students select from a smattering of different project categories and then commit themselves to re-creating, in small form, items from this era of history. In addition to building their projects, the students have also researched information about them and recorded facts into a short booklet form so the public can learn about the items for themselves as they view the displays.

“It is interesting to see how the students are able to interpret historical information and create a hands-on representation of the past,” said one of their teachers, Autumn Bryce. “This project helps to make history real and come alive in a way that they are able to see and understand.”
