Saturday, June 1

3:45 p.m. An officer was called to Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. on a shoplifting call. Employees detained a woman who was suspected of shoplifting. An employee said the woman had been suspected of shoplifting at the store before. The employee said she had witnessed the suspect putting sunglasses in her purse. A pair of sunglasses with the price tag still on them was found in her purse. The woman was issued a summons for shoplifting and trespassing.

3:48 p.m. An officer was called to the 2300 block of E. Main Street for a traffic accident. A driver in a red Dodge pickup rear-ended a Forester. The Forester had stopped for a pedestrian in the crosswalk. The driver of the pickup was issued a summons for driving too closely.

6:51 p.m. An officer was called to the 800 block of E. Fourth St. about an intoxicated person. The officer contacted a man who appeared to be highly intoxicated. After being medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital, the man was transported to Montezuma County Detention Center, where a breath-analysis test showed his blood-alcohol level at 0.20. He was also arrested for violating bond conditions. The man was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

7:07 p.m. An officer observed a group of people in City Park, 802 N. Main St., passing around a bottle of vodka. A man was arrested on several outstanding warrants. At Montezuma County Detention Center, the man became uncooperative. He was left in custody of the jail.

9:56 p.m. An officer pulled the driver of Kia Soul over after he witnessed the car going the wrong way down a one way in the initial block of Beech St. The woman failed several roadside sobriety measures and was arrested for driving under the influence after she provided a breath test that showed she had a blood-alcohol content of 0.280. She was left in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.

11:35 p.m. An officer was called to City Park, 928 E. Main St., about a physical disturbance between a man and a woman. The officer arrested a man who appeared to be intoxicated for violating a protective order with alcohol provision. At the Montezuma County Detention Center, the man was given a breath-analysis test that showed his blood-alcohol content at 0.324. He was left in custody of the jail.

Sunday, June 2

1:25 a.m. An officer was conducting a traffic stop in the initial block of E. Main Street when someone in a Subaru failed to give clearance to the officer. The officer gave the driver a verbal warning then proceeded to locate the Subaru. The Subaru and its male driver were located in the initial block of S. Beech Street. The man said he had not moved over to the left lane because he was planning to make a right hand turn a block later. Several men were in the vehicle with the driver. The driver described them as Russians who were in the country for the first time. He had met them at Blondie’s earlier in the night and he had shown them a good time, and now he was giving them a ride to their hotel. Eventually the man agreed to take a breath test, which indicated he had a blood-alcohol content of 0.155. The man was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital for a medical clearance. At the hospital he refused to be administered a blood test. The man was transported to Montezuma County Detention Center. The officer issued the man a summons for driving while intoxicated and failing to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle. The man was left in custody of the jail staff. Another officer transported the two people, who said they were from Germany, to their hotel.

2:20 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Sally’s Beauty Supply, 215 S. Silgo Street about a trespasser. The woman was located at Walgreen’s, and she was issued a summons for violating a trespass notice at Sally’s.

4:26 p.m. An officer was called to the 400 block of W. Main Street because of a traffic collision. A driver in a Chevy SUV appeared to have run a red light and hit a GMC pickup. The woman driving the SUV was issued a ticket for violating a red light.

Monday, June 3

9:33 p.m. An officer responded to Wendy’s, 221 E. Main St. about an unwanted, intoxicated person refusing to leave. A check on the suspect showed he had been issued a trespass notice asking him not to be at Wendy’s. The man was arrested for violating the warrant. He was left in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.
