Police on Tuesday released the identity of a man found dead in a stairwell last week on Main Avenue in downtown Durango.
Ferlando James, 32, was found Friday morning in the stairwell of a business in the 500 block of Main Avenue, said Cmdr. Ray Shupe, spokesman with the Durango Police Department.
James was a member of Durango’s homeless community. A friend notified police after finding his body.
An autopsy found no evidence of trauma to James’ body, La Plata County Coroner Jann Smith said. A toxicology screening may reveal more about James’ cause of death, she said. The toxicology report will likely take a month, she said.
Police do not suspect foul play, Shupe said.
