The 40th annual Pinto Bean Classic Golf Tournament will be held Saturday and Sunday at Conquistador Golf Course, 200 N. Dolores Road.
A practice round will be held Friday for more than 200 golfers expected to participate.
A steak dinner will be offered Saturday night before the tournament’s fireworks display.
Terry Tanner said he expects many locals to park along North Dolores Road to take in the fireworks display, which should go off at dark. Keenan Ertel will direct the pyrotechnics show.
“It’s a big golfing party. That’s what it’s all about,” Tanner said.
The tournament will also feature a Saturday Night Calcutta, in which the top golfers from the championship flight are auctioned off and 10% of the proceeds are donated to the Harold Tanner Memorial Fund, which provides college scholarships for Dove Creek High School graduates.
The first Pinto Bean Classic took place in 1977 with 138 golfers.
