Mancos artists are making trash beautiful.

The Mancos Creative District and town of Mancos are organizing a mini-beautification project, in which local artists will paint eight trash cans to be set up around town.

Last week, four of the trash cans were painted by members of the Artisans of Mancos cooperative – Jan Wright, Kat Berner, Marilyn Kroeker and Lesya Krasnikova.

Each trash can has its own theme related to the area, including cans that feature mountains, sunflowers, the Mesa Verde cliff dwellings and ravens for the Raven House Gallery.

Additional artists are still being sought to paint remaining trash cans.

Anyone interested in painting one can contact Anne Beach with the Mancos Creative District at anne@mancoscreativedistrict.com.
