Gov. Jared Polis will join the Colorado Department of Transportation and area community leaders to celebrate the completion of two projects in Southwest Colorado at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Rock on Colorado Highway 145.

CDOT recently completed work along Colorado 145 between Cortez and Telluride.

One project addressed the potential of rockfall along the highway. A geotechnical crew mitigated several areas that might have been prone to rockfalls.

The second project reconstructed a 300-foot section of the highway that was destroyed when two boulders tumbled down the adjacent slope.

Participants are encouraged to reach the site before 4:45 p.m., when it will close for up to an hour.
