A Farmington man who has been missing since early July was found dead this week in Arizona, according to the Farmington Police Department.
Craig Cavanaugh, 44, was last seen in Farmington on July 4. He was headed to Peoria, Arizona, for a job, but he never arrived, according to a press release issued Thursday morning.
Authorities say Cavanaugh was seen in Payson, Arizona, where records show his cellphone’s last ping occurred. Investigators found his credit cards were used in Payson, Glendale and Peoria between July 5 and 7 by two males.
Cavanaugh’s truck was found July 12, but no evidence of his whereabouts surfaced over the past two months.
Farmington Police on Thursday said his body was identified in Coconino County in Arizona. According to the statement, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office and the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office are taking over the case as a death investigation.
The two males who used Cavanaugh’s credit cards are listed as suspects, though authorities said the case is still an active investigation.
