Mesa Verde to host Centennial Fun Run

Mesa Verde National Park staff will host a Centennial Fun Run and Walk on Sept. 17 as part of celebrations for the National Park Service Centennial.

A 5.5-mile race will begin at 9 a.m. at the Chapin Mesa Museum Parking area. A 1-mile walk/run will begin immediately after. The Mesa Top and Cliff Palace loop drives will be closed during the race.

Registration is available online at www.itsyourrace.com. Participants may also register from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 8 at the Colorado Welcome Center in Cortez or at the Mancos Library in Mancos.

Registration fees are $20 from Aug. 17 to Sept. 10, $25 from Sept. 11-16 and $30 on the day of the race.

All registered participants will receive a T-shirt. Parking will be available near the Chapin Mesa Museum. Please follow signs to appropriate parking areas.

Participants are encouraged to visit the park after the race. To plan your visit, go to the park’s website at www.nps.gov/meve.
