A 60-kilowatt direct-current photovoltaic energy project could save Mancos nearly $75,000 over the next 20 years.
Officials from Rosen Perry, LLC are scheduled to present a proposal to design, install, operate and finance the solar-powered project tonight at the town's board of trustees meeting. Held at Town Hall, the public forum starts at 7 p.m.
Under the terms of a 20-year Solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), the town's kilowatt addressable utility rate would be discounted by five percent. Thereafter it would escalate at 3.5 percent a year, projecting to save the Town $74,193 when compared to the annual utility rate increase of five percent.
According to a company memo, the proposal requires no capital investment or expense from the town until a solar PPA is entered. The town's financial obligations under such an agreement are limited to the purchase of power produced by the proposed renewable energy project, the memo further states.
Attempts to reach company official Sam Perry for comments were unsuccessful as of press time.

Appoint a new member to the board.
Examine purchasing and bidding policies.
Address a hazard tree and sidewalk replacement matching program.
Discuss the code-enforcement process.
Consider a new Rosenbaum minor subdivision.
