The western mural on the Mancos Liquor building has been receiving lots of praise from the community. Many people stop by the Visitor Center and remark that the mural is a great addition to Mancos. The other day, Will Stone stopped by to tell me a little story about what he observed at the mural. A couple drove up and parked. The woman got out of the car with her camera and the man posed in front of the cattle as though he were about to get trampled in a cattle stampede. That's terrific. People are having fun with the mural too.
Beginning last winter, the Mancos Valley Chamber of Commerce initiated the mural project and worked closely with Mancos Valley Resources, the town and the Mancos Valley Arts Council to make the mural a reality. Chuck Pyle came to town and did a fundraising concert, and the project was off and running. Many people have donated to the project but funds are still needed to complete payment for the mural. You may make a tax-deductible donation to Mancos Valley Resources (MVR/mural), PO Box 204, Mancos, CO 81328, or you can visit our website at www.mancosvalley.com and click on the PayPal icon to make a secure online donation.
The Chamber of Commerce thanks everyone for their ongoing commitment to keep Mancos a wonderful place to live and play.
