The skies were cloudy, but the golf was good. Such is the case every year at the Medicine Horse Masters golf tournament. Held at the South Forty Golf Course on August 10, the fifth annual 4-person scramble tournament drew a total of 56 players.
A team of local golfers made up of Isaque Martinez, Fred Campazano, Loretta Campazano and Sam Sparks finished first while a team composed of Ben Tolin, Chuck Rodstrom, Joanna Rodstrom and Nick Kohler took second.
Proceeds from the tournament went to the Medicine Horse Center, a not-for-profit organization that provides therapeutic riding services. According to Executive Director, Lynne Howarth, a large portion of the money raised at the tournament will be used to fund program scholarships for low-income youth in the area.
Speaking about what makes the Medicine Horse Masters a special experience, Howarth stated, “[The South Forty Golf Course] is a small-time family golf course. It’s very family friendly and there is a real community feeling. Everyone always has a great time.”
At the end of the day, it’s hard to top an event that offers the opportunity to play golf, spend time with friends and contribute to a great cause. At the end of the day, it’s hard to top the Medicine Horse Masters.
