Two former Durango mayors endorsed former Colorado governor and U.S. Senate candidate John Hickenlooper after his performance at Saturday’s candidates forum held in Durango.
Dean Brookie and Sweetie Marbury expressed their support for Hickenlooper in a news release distributed Monday by Hickenlooper’s campaign.
“I’m proud to support John Hickenlooper’s campaign to be Colorado’s next senator,” Brookie said in the release. “John understands rural communities and the importance of our recreation-based economies on the Western Slope. He respects our public lands and natural resources and has a balanced progressive environmental perspective. And he’s a guy I would have a beer with anytime.”
Said Marbury: “I’m a proud supporter of John Hickenlooper. John stood with us during the 416 Fire. He’s a man of common sense. I hope you’ll join me in supporting John Hickenlooper for the next senator of Colorado.”
