The Department of Labor is hosting a local outreach event to assist claimants who may be eligible for benefits under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program (EEOICPA), which is set up to assist qualified uranium workers who were employed at a Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) Section 5 uranium mine, uranium mill or uranium ore-buying station at any time between Jan. 1, 1942, and Dec. 31, 1971.

Those workers and their survivors may be entitled to federal compensation and medical benefits. The meetings will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 10 and 11 at the Courtyard Farmington Hotel at 560 Scott Ave. in Farmington.

A representative from the Black Lung Compensation Program also will be present.
