In a unique outdoor setting, Cortez-area students are enjoying the opportunity to learn about ancestral Puebloans, the plants and animals they depended upon for their survival, and the villages in which they lived.
They also will learn about the Ute Mountain Ute people who live in this area today. The program is a result of collaboration between the Anasazi Heritage Center (the U.S. Department of the Interior and the Bureau of Land Management) and the Crow Canyon Archaeological Center.
During three sessions, seven local schools will bring more than 200 students to participate in the program.
The program is funded in part by the Colorado State Historical Fund and the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management. The next session will be Thursday, Oct. 3.
