Wednesday, Oct. 16

An officer was patrolling in the town of Dolores when he noticed a red Dodge truck traveling 46 mph in a 35 mph zone. The officer asked dispatch to check the driver’s license status as well as for warrants. Dispatch advised that the driver’s license privileges were revoked in the state of Colorado for an alcohol-related offense. The man was arrested and charged with driving a vehicle while license-revoked and got a verbal warning for the speed infraction.

Thursday, Oct. 17

At about 8:50 a.m. a male reported to the pretrial office to start his court-ordered pretrial supervision. As an officer was speaking with the man he could smell a faint odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. The officer signed him up for pretrial and performed a PBT, which showed a .045. The officer asked how much the man had to drink, and he said about four to five beers and that he stopped drinking about 2 a.m. The man also had an active protection order. The man was taken into custody and was issued a summons for violating a protection order and violating bail bond conditions.

Thursday, Oct. 17

An officer was patrolling in the town of Dolores when he observed a vehicle matching the description of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was described as a white Chevy Impala rental vehicle. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Casper, Wyo. The vehicle was originally rented from Casper, Wyo. and was to be returned to the rental center in Farmington, N.M. The officer stopped the vehicle and advised the driver to step out and speak with him. The female driver was upset and crying and kept stating that she did not steal the vehicle. The woman said she rented to vehicle from Wyoming and was supposed to have the vehicle for only one day, but had family issues so she called the Farmington location and spoke with a man that said she could keep the vehicle longer as long as she kept in touch with him. The officer explained to the woman that she would have to tell her story to the officer in Wyoming as well. The woman was taken into custody and charged with aggravated motor vehicle theft.

Monday, Oct. 21

Police responded to the Ute Mountain Casino in reference to somebody being intoxicated and under the age of 21. Upon arrival the officer spoke with the male who was being detained by casino security. The officer explained to the male that it was illegal to be intoxicated on or bring alcohol onto the reservation, the male said he did not bring it onto the reservation because he drank it all before getting to the casino. The officer also advised the male that he was not to possess or consume alcohol until he turns 21 years old. The male replied, “But I just like it all the time.” The officer requested that the male perform a Portable Breath Test, which he did, with a result of .096. The officer issued the male a summons for illegal possession/consumption of ethyl alcohol by an underage person.
