Last weekend, hundreds of boaters took advantage of the first whitewater release on the Dolores River since 2011.

The boating release on the Lower Dolores River has been extended through the weekend, McPhee reservoir managers report.

Flows will climb to between 800 cfs and 1,000 cfs through June 12, then drop 100 cfs per day beginning Monday, June 13. Minimum boating flows are 500-600 for a raft, and 300-400 for a kayak.

“The reservoir is now at a level where we can release what is coming down the river less diversions to water users,” according doloreswater.com Check the website for updates.
