The impact of a crash Monday evening in Dolores caused the front wheel of the pickup to detach.

Rescue crews responded to a two-vehicle crash about 6 p.m. Monday in Dolores.

A westbound pickup truck on Colorado Highway 145 collided with a Saturn sedan that was attempting to take a left onto 14th Street, said Montezuma County Undersheriff Vernon Knuckles.

The driver of the sedan, James Maez, of Mancos, was cited for turning left in front of approaching traffic, failing to provide proof of insurance and driving with a revoked license, according to the accident report.

Maez reported he was talking to his passenger when the crash occurred, Knuckles said.

No major injuries were reported. Everyone wore seat belts, and air bags deployed in the sedan. The impact detached the pickup’s front left wheel, and debris and fluids spilled onto the roadway.

Sheriff deputies, the Dolores Fire and Rescue Department and Southwest Health System ambulance responded to the crash.
