Friday, Feb. 21

9:33 p.m. An officer assisted another officer with a traffic stop in the 500 block of South Elm Street. A man was arrested on suspicion of DUI, driving with an open alcoholic beverage in the vehicle, failing to have an interlock device on his vehicle as required. He was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Saturday, Feb. 22

10:37 a.m. An officer was dispatched to City Market, 508 E. Main St., about an unwanted person. The officer approached the suspect, who appeared to be intoxicated. The man was in violation of a trespass notice. He was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

12:39 a.m. An officer was dispatched to the post office, 35 S. Beech St., to secure the building. Three people were sleeping in the lobby. One of the man was issued a summons for violating a trespass notice. The officer secured the building.

3:44 a.m. An officer was at the Cortez Police Department when he heard a loud crash. The officer discovered he had heard what appeared to be a crash of a pickup truck into a bridge at Parque de Vida. The driver of the pickup said he drove onto the park because cars were chasing him. The driver had a heavy smell of alcohol on his breath. The driver failed several roadside maneuvers. The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and was left in custody of Montezuma County Jail.

12:05 p.m. An officer was dispatched to a domestic dispute in the 100 block of North Harrison Street. A man was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault and domestic violence and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

1:21 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of East Montezuma Avenue about a welfare check. Upon arrival, the officer noted the man was intoxicated. The man had a protection order banning the consumption of alcohol. He was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

4:16 p.m. An officer was dispatched to a trespassing complaint in the 100 block of East Seventh Street. A man was issued a trespass notice and banned from the property.

5 p.m. An officer took a report about a stolen vehicle in the 200 block of South Madison Street.

5:16 p.m. An officer was dispatched to City Market about an unwanted person. An intoxicated man was arrested for violating a trespass notice and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Sunday, Feb. 23

1:47 a.m. An officer was patrolling on North Linden Street when he saw a vehicle fail to come to a complete stop at West Main Street. The driver was pulled over in the 200 block of East Third Street. He appeared intoxicated and failed several roadside maneuvers. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI and DUI per se and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center. He was also issued a summons for DUI, DUI per se and failing to obey a traffic control device

10:16 a.m. An officer was patrolling in the 400 block of South Maple Street when he saw a man he recognized as having active warrants. The man was arrested and after being medically cleared for intoxication at Southwest Memorial Hospital he was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

4:08 p.m. An officer was patrolling near the Sleeping Ute Apartments, 516 South Madison St., when he recognized a man with active warrants. The man was arrested on two active warrants and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

8:33 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Subway, 1200 E. Main St., about a report of an intoxicated juvenile. Several people were in the parking lot and appeared disorderly. A woman in the group had an active warrant. She was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

10:59 p.m. An officer was dispatched to KFC, 2222 E. Main St., about a report of damaged property. A drive-thru menu sign was damaged. The officer took a report and pictures of the damage.

Monday, Feb. 24

9:10 a.m. An officer was in the 1000 block of East Montezuma Avenue when he observed a vehicle that appeared to be speeding in a school zone. The drive had an active warrant out of Arapahoe County. He was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

11:17 a.m. An officer was dispatched on a welfare check to City Market, 508 E. Main St. A woman who appeared to be intoxicated had an active warrant. She was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

7:11 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Liquid Assets, 718 E. Main St., about a possible theft. A suspect had an active warrant for his arrest. He was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Tuesday, Feb. 25

1:56 p.m. An officer on foot patrol in Centennial Park, 800 E. Montezuma Ave., recognized a man who had an active warrant. The man who appeared to be intoxicated, was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
