Guynes leads Dove Creek past Telluride

Matching up against the Telluride Miners on Jan. 17, the Bulldogs easily defended their home court, cruising to a 57-18 victory.

Keying the Bulldogs’ big win was a strong first quarter that saw Dove Creek open up a 17-1 lead, as well as 20 points from Dove Creek senior Jessica Guynes.

Showing the ability to consistently penetrate the Telluride defense, Jessica Guynes converted 10 of her 19 field goal attempts, while also recording 4 assists and six steals.

Also playing well for the Bulldogs, senior Corissa Guynes scored 14 points, dished out five assists and had eight steals.

Young dominant as Dove Creek beats Ignacio

Travelling to face Ignacio on Jan. 18, the Dove Creek Bulldogs played well for the second consecutive game, using a big third quarter to roll to a 47-36 win.

Dominating the paint from start to finish was Bulldogs’ junior Madison Young, who, in addition to scoring 16 points, pulled down 11 rebounds.

Especially important in the Bulldogs win was a big third quarter, which saw Dove Creek turn a 22-20 deficit into a 37-28 lead.

Complimenting Young’s big game, Jessica Guynes converted shot 7 of 8 from the field on her way to 13 points.

Next up for the Bulldogs will be a Jan. 25 home matchup against the undefeated and highly ranked Norwood Mavericks.
