There will be a different look to Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College/Alpine Bank’s Concerts @ The Park this summer – because of the current COVID-19 situation, the free live performances usually held Thursday nights in Buckley Park are headed online for a series of virtual shows.
Concerts from artists’ various virtual stages will be streamed live Thursdays on June 18 and 25, and July 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30. All shows are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m., organizers announced in a news release Wednesday.
To watch the shows, log on to the Community Concert Hall website, www.durangoconcerts.com for a live link.
The “virtual” Concerts @ The Park schedule is:
June 18: Soul, funk and R&B with Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal.June 25: Southern country with singer-songwriter John King.July 2: “The Blues Review,” a Southwest Civic Winds ensemble performing from the Concert Hall stage.July 9: Syrian roots with Chicago soul with Bassel & The Supernaturals.July 16: Folk, country and blues with Alice Wallace.July 23: Durango’s jazz musicians, the Southwest Civic Jazz Orchestra from the Concert Hall stage.July 30: To be announced.“This is not our ideal situation, but we’re trying to keep the music alive, albeit virtual,” Concert Hall Executive Director Charles Leslie said in the announcement. “Make it a Thursday evening event with a big screen and barbecue or picnic in your backyards or neighborhood cul de sacs. We’ll be back live as soon as possible and safe. Tremendous thanks goes out to Alpine Bank for sponsoring these free virtual shows both for our community and to help keep musicians employed.”
