Two residency scholarships are being offered for Willowtail Springs Nature Preserve and Education Center in Mancos. The center offers a space for artists to practice their craft, and in this file photo from 2019, locals gather at Willowtail for a reading by writers Lisa and Kyra Taylor.

Willowtail Springs Nature Preserve and Education Center is offering two full-residency scholarships to local artists this fall.

Residencies would last one week at the Mancos center, and scholarships are being sponsored by New Face Productions, a nonprofit supporting artistic endeavors in Southwest Colorado. Applicants must reside in Montezuma or La Plata County and be “an emerging, established or mid-career practitioner in the arts.”

The residency scholarship includes one furnished cabin, full use of Willowtail’s 60-acre property and 24-hour access to the 600-square-foot working studio. Participants would be required to take part in a community involvement program during or after the residency.

Applications are due by July 31, with awards announced Aug. 31. For more information visit the Willowtail website.
