Fred Taylor, one of the young old-timers of the Montezuma section, was in Dolores Saturday and showed the writer an interesting relic in the shape of an old pocketbook which was carried by Dick May at the time he was killed by Indians more than fifty years ago. According to Taylor, May and a man named Thornton were camped in a cabin just across the Utah line, about 12 miles southwest of the present town of Dove Creek. A large band of Ute Indians rode up, killed May and Thornton and drove off the horses. May's body was found in the ruins of the house but his wallet was some distance away and empty. It is believed that he carried a considerable sum of money at the time of his death. The killing took place on the first day of May, 1881.

Dolores people are taking the matter up quite favorably and it seems that the swimming pool idea will go over.
