When a massive rockslide closed Red Mountain Pass in mid-January, it triggered a massive mitigation project. By the end of the monthlong Herculean task, one lane was opened to get traffic going again. The closure affected the economies of Ouray and Silverton, the work of priests and freight carriers.

The whole enterprise has been documented for a video produced by CDOT called "Red Mountain Pass - an event that tested community, commitment and courage."
